FOR TEACHERS

These competitions are specifically designed for kids who love to write – so teachers, please don’t use this as a class writing activity or a translation activity.

In order to keep these competitions FREE, I have to keep administration expenses down so I’m not equipped to deal with thousands or even hundreds of entries.

Please only encourage your enthusiastic writers to enter.  I cannot accept whole class entries.

If you wish to run a competition for your class or at your school, here are some tips on how to do it.

WRITERS

I look forward to reading your entries.  Please let me know if you have any questions about this competition. Leave your questions in the comments section of this post or email me Dee@deescribe.com.au

Happy writing:)

Dee

  1. Hi Dee
A question on behalf of some keen young writers – Are there prizes associated with this competition?
    Thanks!
    - Rebecca

    • Yes there are prizes, Rebecca but I’m still finalising them. I’m hoping to do something different with this competition. I know how hard it is for young writers to get published so I’m hoping to offer the top prize winners an opportunity to be published either in an e-book or some other form. I’m still looking into this.

Everyone who enters the competition will get a certificate.

Thanks for your question. Please feel free to ask if you have others.

      Dee

  2. Hi Dee,
I’m eleven years old and I would like to enter this competition. I love writing stories so I was really excited when I found out about this competition. I was wondering if the story had to be about a real incident or if I could write a fictional one.
    Thanks,
    Khushi!

  3. I am 13 years old and I was wondering whether or not it’s allowed to be funny.
    Please Respond Soon.

  4. Hey! I was wondering how many times you can enter

    • Hi Evie,

Unfortunately due to the large number of entries we get for the competitions, you can only enter once.

      Happy writing:)

      Dee

  5. Sonya McPhee says:

Are children from overseas allowed to enter? My child is in Australia

    Thanks

  6. Hi Dee,

I was just wondering who this competition is open to? Just Australia?
Also, is there a certain age group you have to be in to be able to enter?

    Thank you,
    Eva

  7. Hi Dee, i was wondering, do we have to submit a fee to enter this competition? Or is it free?
